Obituary for Carla Faye Toney

Carla Faye (Gilman) Toney, age 66, passed away at home on April 13, 2024, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She was born on January 25, 1958, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Her mother Barbara (Sutton) Kelley and Dallas Kelley raised her in Rhinelander.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree in social work at UW Oshkosh. In-between, she raised three children. She most recently retired from the Red Granite Correctional Facility.

In her earlier days, she hosted family events and cooked for everyone. Carla enjoyed playing casino games and meeting new friends in the later years of her life. She was also her grandchildren’s biggest fan, always eager to see them show off their talents and watch them grow. She also had a big heart for animals, especially her cats. She will be remembered for being compassionate, willing to listen and being able to give honest advice. Her door was always open. Helping others came before helping herself. She wouldn’t have it any other way.

She is survived by her children, David (Trishia) Delap, Paul (Karen Woodruff) Delap and William “BJ” Roch; siblings, Matt Gilman, Terri Kelley and Laurie (Al) Kraus; grandchildren, Derek, Adrianna, Zachery, Riley and Christian; father, Dallas Kelley; long-time friend, Patti Fox; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding her in death was her mother, Barbara (Sutton) Kelley; and brother, Mike Gilman.

Per her wishes, no service will be held.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Hospice as well as recognize Paul, Karen and BJ for their dedication and compassion shown to mom during the months she fought her battle.
