To send flowers in memory of Charlotte Geier (Clarke), please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
Born on December 31, 1946 in Riverside, California, Charlotte was the oldest of Luke and Mabel (Stephenson) Clarke’s four daughters. Luke and Mabel had southern roots, the family returned to the Richmond, Virginia area. Though Charlotte loved Wisconsin, she cherished her southern heritage and never lost her charming accent. She was a great storyteller who kept her family and friends enchanted with tales of her life and times. In 2010, she moved to Oshkosh to be near family.
Charlotte was a geologist at heart but was employed by Department of Defense as a civilian.
Charlotte was an accomplished artist and photographer whose sketches, paintings, and photos brought much joy to her family and friends. Always out for an adventure, she loved traveling to Menominee Park on her motorized chair and taking nature photos at Ames Point, the zoo, and the walking path. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and made every walk with them in the park a memorable one. She always loved hiking in the desert, alone or with the grandkids, when she lived in El Paso. She helped them find treasures of wild fruits and special rocks as they hiked new places.
Charlotte is survived by her sisters Deborah (Ralph II) Waddell of Colorado Springs, CO and Kathy Elmer of Colorado Springs; daughters Lori (Tony) Palmeri of Oshkosh, Tammy Hoover of Bradenton, FL, and Jennie Hoover of Scappoose, OR; grandchildren Dan McCord and Amber McCord of Oshkosh, Joshua (Mandy) Mahon of Beaverton, OR; Caleb (Karen) Mahon of Rexburg,ID; Hannah (Anthony) Knapp of Portland, OR; Felix Jackson of Portland, OR; and Levi Mahon of Scappoose, OR; great-grandchildren Elan Weso and Ava Galles of Oshkosh and Aurora Mahon of Beaverton, OR; nephews Tom Elmer of Chicago, IL, Ralph Waddell III of Sequim, WA; Dale Long of Atlanta, GA; niece Peggy Sue (John) Frary of Tulsa, OK.
Charlotte’s sister Lusinda Long of Decatur, GA passed away approximately 12 hours after Charlotte. We find comfort in imagining the two sisters’ joyful reunion in Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her son David, mother Mabel, and father Luke.
Charlotte’s family would like to thank Ascension Hospice Care and the staff at Bella Vista Senior Living facility for their thoughtful, comforting, and compassionate care during her last days.
A private memorial service for Charlotte will be held.
Charlotte was a deeply spiritual person of great faith who believed we should always do what we can to help others. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the City of Oshkosh Parks Department Ref: Menominee Shoreland Restoration Project in Charlotte’s name.
