Obituary for Cynthia Mary Baier

Cynthia Mary Beatrice Baier, age 66, passed away on August 21st, 2021 at her home after a brief illness. She was born on May 3rd, 1955 to the late John A and Ruth(Last) Baier. And as she would say - My name is “Cynthia” ~ don’t call me “Cindy”.

She attended St. Vincent grade school and was a graduate of Oshkosh West High School. Cynthia was a member of St Jude Parish-Sacred Heart. She was a big contributor to the Silent Auction at the parish picnics as well as to other local charities.

When Cynthia was in high school, she was a co-op student at the Miles Kimball Company. After high school she worked at SNC, and then at Square D for 23 years until the Oshkosh plant closed. She worked at several other jobs, and returned full circle to Miles Kimball, where she worked from 2007 until her retirement in 2020. Although she had no children of her own, she had the joy of providing childcare for her great niece, and goddaughter, Caroline. Cynthia cared for and nurtured Caroline from age 6 months till she was about a year old, and Caroline has remained her pet “Poodle” throughout her 21 years. Cynthia liked the gospel music of the Gaithers and went to several live concerts to hear them.

In addition to her parents, Cynthia was predeceased by her sister, Barbara, a nephew Christian Baier, a sister-in-law, Karen L. Baier and a grandniece, Marilla Baier.

Cynthia is survived by her sisters and brothers: Louise, Bruce (Darlene Darrow), Charles (Pam), Jean (Jack) Thierman, Thomas (Jenny), Philip, Douglas (Diana), Nancy (Monty) Montgomery, Ellen Poeschl (Bob Amundson), Ted (Cindy), Amy, Peter (Anjie) and Jennifer. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, including her godson, Jacob Baier, and great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

We will celebrate Cynthia’s life on Thursday, August 26th with a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 5 o’clock p.m. Visitation will be at the church from 3 o’clock until the service.

The family will hold a private burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Vincent de Paul, or the charity of your choice in Cynthia’s memory.

Thank you to the EMT’s for their compassionate care of our sister.
