Obituary for Donald J Burns

Donald J. Burns, 90, passed away in Oshkosh, WI to meet with his beloved wife, Joan in Heaven on October 6, 2022. He was born in Milwaukee, WI on September 11, 1932.

Don served eight years in the US Army as an Air Compressor Operator Company B 998th Engineer Battalion from August 24, 1953, through July 31, 1961, including his service in Germany for 14 months.

On December 31, 1981, Don married Joan A. LeQue in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together they shared 39 years of love, wedding anniversaries, birthdays, and holidays.

A birthday gift from Don to his JoJo, (his nickname for Joan), was to attend the Grand Old Opry, where JoJo met her favorite country western singer, Loretta Lynn. After the concert she met and received a picture signed, Happy Birthday JoJo, Love, Loretta Lynn.

Don and Joan enjoyed traveling as much as they could. They were especially fond of attending the Harley Davidson Conventions in Las Vegas with Don’s sister, Mary, and her husband, Karl Sellner.

Don and Joan shared a mutual true love for all of God’s creatures and critters. Especially their beloved dogs, Cuddles, Bufred, Buster and Freckles.

In their local leisure, they also enjoyed the parks and beaches, cookouts and pig roasts on the spit with family and friends. Don enjoyed shopping for costume jewelry for his JoJo’s birthdays, Christmas and their wedding anniversaries all decked out in their best attire. Don and Joan enjoyed dining and dancing the night away.
They both loved to decorate their humble home with decorations and lights galore, like Vegas Nights. It’s no wonder they married on New Years’ Eve in Las Vegas. Most holidays Joan cooked a lavish feast for family and friends from Thanksgiving to New Years.

Don is survived by his brother, Richard (Debra) Burns; nieces, Natalie and Desiree Sellner (Dana Talbot); nephews, Richard and Don Sellner; and stepson Bruce Voskuil. He is further survived by his stepdaughter, Deborah (Mike) Kremer.

Preceding Don in death, his wife of 39 years, Joan “JoJo” Ann Burns, who passed January 2, 2020; mother, Patricia Reisinger; two sisters, Sandra Burns and Mary (Karl) Sellner.

Don will be buried with his beloved wife, Joan at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun, WI.
