Obituary for Elizabeth Theresa Christian

Elizabeth “Liz” T. Christian passed away on Saturday morning, October 2, at Evergreen Nursing Center in Oshkosh, WI. Liz was born on May 6, 1934 to William and Cleo (Tuddie) Schauer, at home.

She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1952. Liz was employed at Mondl Shoe Mfg., clerked at Newmans Clothing Store and was an aide at Winnebago Mental Health Institute.

On August 27, 1955, she married Loyal D. Christian at Sacred Heart Church. Loyal preceded her in death on December 14, 1996. Liz lived on Banville Road for many years and enjoyed living in the country where she was especially fond of all her cats and German shepherds over the years. Most stray cats found their way to her house. Summers were spent outdoors in the vegetable garden and berry patch with Loyal selling the produce at Rumlow’s Bar. A talented artist, Liz had her own studio/hideaway in a refurbished chicken coop on the farm. Liz had resided at Country Villa in Omro for the past three years where she spent her time reading and praying the rosary. Survivors include two sisters, Jean Michels, and Carole Patten; brother, William Schauer; two sister-in-laws, Shirley Milner of Omro, and Cheryl Gorges of Neenah; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husband Loyal; parents; and brothers-in-law, Jerry, Jim, Merle, Gareth Christian, Ron Michaels and Gary Patten. Cremation has taken place, and there are no planned services at this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oshkosh Humane Society in Liz’s name.
