Obituary for Kathleen Anne Watson (Faltersack)

Kathleen Anne Watson 03/28/1950-10/26/2023

Kathleen passed away peacefully at Aurora Hospital in Oshkosh on October 26th, 2023. She had been battling cancer for 14 years.

To know Kathleen is to recognize her dedication to God, her family, and the people that make up Salvation Army Church. Her faith could be seen in her perspective towards her obstacles. She looked for new ways to reach her goals, trusting that God would carry her over the hurdles. She typically had more problems than the people she cared for, but always referred to herself as “Blessed”. Because she felt Blessed, she was patient and aware of how other people were doing. She was often advocating for others and encouraging them.

She graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a degree in social work and spent a career in Mental Health. She took her passion for people and focused on Crisis Prevention and AODA/Drug Prevention. Her friends at Church called her “The Major”. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Nana”.

She loved to sit in her chair and watch out the window for the squirrels. She spent a lot of time on her plants, her favorite was a Christmas cactus. She talked to “Cocoa” the family dog, on the phone daily and looked forward to days she could sit outside and throw french fries to Cocoa.

We will miss her wisdom, her ability to edify, and for showing us how to be peaceful people.

Special thanks to Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, Aurora Hospital 2 North and Chaplains, Salvation Army Church, Winnebago County Crisis Center Staff, and her caregiver, Cherie Brais.

Kathleen is survived by her Children Erika (Scott)Becker and Broc (Alyssa) Watson; her sister Kimberly (Russell Arndt) Nicholas and brother Michael (Pam) Faltersack; her grandchildren, Takara Watson, Tristan (Catherine) Gransell, and Camden, Lennan, and Holden Watson; and one great-grandchild named Talia Gransell.

A memorial service for Kathleen will be held at Salvation Army Church (417 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh) on Saturday, November 11th at 2:00 pm with fellowship to follow.
