Obituary for Mark Donald Muscavitch

Mark Donald Muscavitch went to be with Jesus Christ, his Lord and personal Savior, on Saturday, February 4, 2023. He was born on February 14, 1964 in Oshkosh, the son of the late Donald and Sylvia (Johnsen) Muscavitch. Mark was a 1985 graduate of Winneconne High School. He had honorary roles as part of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department and the Winneconne Police Department since 1980, where he developed many close friendships. Mark was employed by Advocap and was also a board member there for many years. He was an avid sports fan and eagerly looked forward to attending the annual EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh.

Mark is quoted as saying, “Jesus is the most important person in my life.” He was a faithful member of Plymouth Church, where he cultivated lifelong relationships with fellow parishioners. Mark had the best smile which was probably key to his unparalleled ability to make friendships and forge lasting relationships wherever he went.

Mark is survived by his aunts: Pearl Muscavitch of Oshkosh, Elaine Kelly of New Mexico, and Kathy Johnsen of Florida; cousins: David (Katie) Muscavitch of Winneconne, Paul (Ann) Muscavitch of Oshkosh, Marsha Selle (Jim Tretten) of Florida, Bill (Teddy) Johnsen of Arizona, and Julie Johnsen of California; guardian: Bruce (Risa) Schreiber of Oshkosh; and good friends: Jerry and Rita Cottrell of Winneconne. He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, grandparents, and uncles: Martin Muscavitch, Dennis Kelly, and Arvid Johnsen.

At Mark’s request, a memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Plymouth Church in Oshkosh. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am, with the service following at 11:00 am.

The family would like to thank Mark’s many caregivers who provided loving, kind, and compassionate care for him over the past thirty-three years. We especially thank Awa, who has consistently cared for Mark for the last three years. Finally, we would like to thank the many visitors who brightened Mark’s days and Moment’s Hospice who cared for Mark in the last weeks of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Plymouth Church, 1325 Georgia St. Oshkosh, WI 54902, in memory of Mark Muscavitch.
