Obituary for Peter Bischoff

Peter Michael Bischoff, who was a son, brother, father and friend, passed away the evening of Dec. 10, 2022. He was 68.

Pete grew up as the oldest of eight children in an Irish-Catholic family based in the metro Detroit area. He graduated Birmingham Brother Rice High School in 1973 and attended Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula but made Oshkosh his home for the past four decades.

He kept his house neat and tidy, and his yard and garage immaculate. He worked most of his career as a skilled machinist for Webex.

In retirement, Pete enjoyed a quiet life that included time with his kids and regular trips to his favorite neighborhood bars. He had a particular fondness for Jameson’s Irish Whiskey. He liked downhill and cross country skiing and water aerobics, and he loved music. Pete had an impressive collection of vinyl records and like to sing karaoke.

He cherished his daughter, Melissa Bischoff, and enjoyed a friendly relationship with his ex-wife, Mary Beyer. In recent years, Pete connected with his two sons, Tim Farrell of Green Bay and Adam Poole of Marquette.

Pete is survived by Melissa, Mary, Tim and Adam as well as his siblings, Jean Moran of Worthington, OH, Joyce Bischoff of Boston, Paul (Jeanette) Bischoff of Pine Flat, California, Laura Bischoff and Dan Schlichting of Worthington, Amelia Habicht of Ithaca, NY and Matthew Bischoff of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Bischoff, Patricia Shaughnessy Straub and Paul J. Straub, his sister Martha M. Bischoff, his brother-in-law Oliver Habicht and his nephew Thomas C. Moran.

The family will hold a private gathering. Please consider a contribution in Pete's name to your favorite charity or to his -- St. Vincent de Paul.
