Obituary for Rick Lynn Hoeft

Rick L. Hoeft passed away on his 70th birthday on November 18th 2019. He was born in 1949 to Edward and Lois (Lautenschlager) Hoeft and grew up in Omro, WI. Rick was the middle of three mischievous boys and graduated from Omro High School in 1968. There, he excelled in athletics, receiving multiple M.V.P. Awards and most importantly, was voted best looking in his class. Rick went on to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Biology. Rick began his career with Winnebago County as a technician for the Soil and Water Conservation Department. He then went on to become an inspector for the Winnebago County Zoning Department, where he then retired.

Rick married Joanne “Jo” Raimann on September 6, 1980. They raised two daughters together, Whitney and Casey, who both inherited their father's sense of humor, love for animals, and most importantly good looks!

Rick was an avid outdoorsman, bagging several trophy bucks and a bear. He especially enjoyed spending time at the cabin, walking and four-wheeling through the woods. Summertime with his family was spent boating, fishing, and hanging out by the pool. He enjoyed gardening, always growing way too many tomatoes and cucumbers. Rick had a vast knowledge of ornithology and took pride in his bird skull collection. He was skilled in taxidermy mounting game birds and European deer mounts. He liked watching the Brewers, Packers, and countless hours of the Investigation Discovery Channel. Rick enjoyed interacting with the dogs in the Journey Together Service Dog program helping to develop their skills. Rick also found pleasure in traveling to different locations and collecting unique rocks to decorate the house and yard.
Rick is survived by his wife, Jo; daughters, Whitney and Casey; mother, Lois; brother, Terry (Phyllis) Hoeft; mother-in-law, Ramona Raimann; sisters-in-law: Linda (Roger) Foust, Nancy (Craig) Ruddy and Sharon Raimann; many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ed; brother, Curt; nephew, Ryan; and father-in-law, Robert Raimann.

Rick had a gift of gab and loved to laugh and joke around. Please join us for a celebration of life on Saturday, November 30th, 2019, in the auditorium at First English Lutheran Church, located at 1013 Minnesota Ave., Oshkosh, WI. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until time of Service at 7:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Journey Together Service Dog Program or the Oshkosh Food Pantry, because Rick loved to grocery shop!
