Obituary

The Boogie Bandits, The SwingTime Big Band, The Neenah Ambassadors to name a few. What do these bands have in common? Gabe Allen Graham

On Wednesday, January 27, 2021 Stephen Allan Graham, age 73, musician, entertainer, sound engineer, and philanthropist passed away. Gabe was born on October 20, 1947 in Pasadena, CA to William and Jeannette (Joy) Graham.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After military service he resided in Tampa Bay, FL and later in the San Francisco Bay area, Las Vegas and Wisconsin. He moved to Oshkosh in 2018 when he purchased the 1857 “Cyrus Webster” home. He loved the history of the house which is one of the oldest homes in Oshkosh and listed on the Wisconsin Historical Society.

He was an accomplished singer, keyboardist and trumpeter – fronted his own bands, performed with other stars including George Jones, Dr. Hook, The Beau Brummels and Frissell and West. Locally he with his band, The Boogie Bandits, played on Wednesday nights at Fletch’s. He also enjoyed playing solo at The Oshkosh Elk’s Club.

Gabe had a keen interest in automobiles, especially the 1964 Jaguar XKE which was on his “bucket list.”

He also had a passion for golf and enjoyed playing in a league at Chaska.

He was kind and generous always willing to help those in need including donating his hair to Locks of Love and delivering Meals on Wheels.

In later years he finished a Masters Degree from UW-Stevens Point.

Gabe was preceded in death by his father Bill, and his mother Jeannette. He is survived by his son Aaron (Christina), his grandchildren, his brothers Kenny and Dave (Carolyn), sister Robin (Doug) and several nieces and cousins. He is further survived by loving partner Candy (his “snooky ookums”) and many special friends especially Brian, Dave, Randy, Adam, and Joe.

In accordance with Gabe’s wishes no formal service will be held.

Man... this was tough to hear... but Gabe was such an uplifting person... genuine and giving. He truly was family to our Chaska Hackers golf league. He wouldn’t want anything less of us to carry on and appreciate the course we play with him in mind. The Chaska Hackers will never forget Gabe and we will be dedicating our 2021 season in his honor. God speed my friend!
