Obituary for Sylvia Dorothy Muscavitch (Johnsen)

Sylvia Dorothy (Johnsen) Muscavitch, age 86 of Neenah, went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 1, 2022. She was born May 15, 1936, in Askow, MN to Harald B. Johnsen and Frieda (Hansen) Johnsen. She graduated from Walworth HS in 1954 and Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1957 with an RN degree. After graduation Sylvia worked in the Theda Clark Hospital Geriatric Ward and later in a doctor office.

On September 21, 1957, Sylvia married Donald Muscavitch in Zenda WI. After 49 years of marriage, Don went to Heaven on June 21, 2007. Sylvia enjoyed her womens neighborhood Bible Studies, family, friends, swimming, nature and wildlife, gardening, cooking and baking. She always enjoyed hosting company at her home. Sylvia loved the simple things in life. She was known as the “Welcome Wagon Hostess” of Island Shores Neenah, where she happily spent the last 13 years of her life. She loved playing her piano for worship and other celebrations.

Sylvia is survived by her son, Mark of Oshkosh, a sister Elaine (Johnsen) Kelly NM, sisters-in-law Kathy Johnsen FL and Pearl Muscavitch of Oshkosh, nieces Julie Johnsen CA, Marsha (Jim Tretten) Selle FL, nephews Bill (Teddy) Johnsen AZ, Paul (Ann) Muscavitch Oshkosh, David (Katie) Muscavitch Winneconne, along with cousins, extended family, and many very dear friends and neighbors.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Donald, brother Arvid Johnsen, brother-in-law Martin Muscavitch, and three little ones.

Memorial services will be held October 20, 2022 at Plymouth Church, 325 Georgia St, Oshkosh, WI. Visitation begins at 10:00 am with funeral service following at 11:00 am, with Pastor Rick Hopkins officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to: Plymouth Church, Operation Smile Train, Pacific Mission in Chicago, Christian radio WRVM in Suring WI, and New Perspective – Island Shores, Neenah.
