Obituary for Betty Florence Simons

Betty F. Simons, age 95 passed away on Monday, September 7, 2015, at Park View Health Center.Betty was born on January 21, 1920, in Oshkosh, to the late Eric Gahr and Stella (Bruce) McRae. On April 24, 1954, she was united in marriage to Roy W. Simons. In 1972, Betty and Roy moved to Shawano where Betty would eventually start her own business making draperies. She enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens, watching the deer across the road and spending time with family. She leaves behind many fun filled memories of the horse races, casino trips, pajama parties, pudding parfaits, popcorn & Pepsi on Bewitched nights, black olives…. Betty is survived by two brothers – Warren McRae and Neil “Pat” McRae; one sister – Judith Norton; her “adopted children” – Debbie (Bob Knorr) Hinske, Doug Poeschl, Patty (Jon Van Den Bogart) Poeschl, Jimmer (Jean) Poeschl, Mary (Todd) Krueger, Scott (Melissa) Hittman, Christopher Hittman, and Veronica Berglund; and many nieces and nephews. Proceeding Betty in death were her husband Roy, her parents, brothers – Richard (Eleanor) Gahr, Donald (Una) Gahr, Duncan (Joyce) McRae; sister – Janice (Robert) Pekel; brother-in-law William Norton, and her special cousin (mother of her “adopted children”) Shirley Hittman. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Park View Health Center for their compassionate care give to Betty.
