Obituary for Marilyn Kay Kumbalek (Anhalt)

Marilyn Kay  Kumbalek (Anhalt)
Marilyn Kay (Anhalt) Kumbalek, 78, of Oshkosh, passed away at home on Monday, Jan. 1st, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Marilyn was born on Dec. 2nd, 1939 in Valders, WI to the late Henry and Althea (Burkhardt) Anhalt. She grew up in the Manitowoc area and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957. She married Wilbur (Bill) Kumbalek in 1959 and moved to Oshkosh, where she lived most of her life. Marilyn was a nursing assistant at Evergreen Manor for several years and had various part time jobs throughout her life. She also lived in Kitzingen, Germany for 7 years where she worked with the U.S. military at the NCO Club System. Marilyn enjoyed gardening and traveling and loved to read. She was a member of St. Josephats Church for many years where she worked with the youth group and taught religion classes.

She is survived by her husband Bill, two sons, William (Lori) Kumbalek of Hilbert, John (Cathy) Kumbalek of Oshkosh, two daughters, Jean Smith of Oshkosh and Melinda Kumbalek of Iceland; eight grandchildren, Samantha Smith of Arizona, Nicole (Andy) Barazia of Colorado, Aron and Karli Kumbalek of Oshkosh, Ariel Kumbalek of Appleton, William Kumbalek of Menasha, Noah and Ben Kumbalek of Hilbert and one great granddaughter, Devynae Smith of Oshkosh.

She is further survived by three brothers, Larry (Delores) Anhalt of Two Rivers, Dick (Melanie) Anhalt of Mishicot and David Anhalt of Manitowoc; three sisters, Jeanne (Roger) Ringmeier of Manitowoc, Patricia (Jim) Topping of North Carolina and Pam (Tony) Zehren of Georgia. She is also survived by many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerome and Robert and a sister, Kathy.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a short celebration of life on Friday, Jan. 12th from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Fox Cities Funeral and Cremation, 3026 Jackson St. Oshkosh, WI 54901. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
