Obituary for Richard Robert "Dick" Rennert Sr.

Richard Robert "Dick"  Rennert Sr.
Richard R. Rennert Sr., 87, of Oshkosh, passed away at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay on February 26, 2018. Richard was born on April 13, 1930 to the late Clarence and Clara (Gomell) Rennert Sr. in Oshkosh. On May 22, 1948 Dick married the love of his life, Lucille O’Neill. They shared almost 70 years together, as well as two loving children. Dick was a railroad foreman for many years as well as a firefighter. He was a founding member of the Wisconsin State Emergency Vehicle Association, being the President at one point. Dick was the driving force to writing a national test for licensing those who work on fire equipment. He and his wife, Lucy, owned and operated Rennert’s Fire Equipment Service that they started when he was 40. They owned that business for 25 years.

Dick is survived by his wife: Lucille, his children: Joyce (Drake) Siewert, Richard (Katherine) Rennert Jr., grandchildren: Scott (Christa) Abraham, Todd Abraham, Eric (Kelly) Flack, Jennifer Flack, Susan (Bill) Page, Christopher (Kathy) Rennert, Joshua (Jessica) Koteski, Sean Rennert, eight great-grandchildren, siblings: Carole Mathwig, Clarence “Bud” (Marian) Rennert Jr., Ralph (June) Rennert, Sandra (Wayne) Brody, Peggy Berndt, Bonnie (Donald) Hass, as well as many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister, Marlyn Ulrich.

A memorial service for Dick will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Lakeview Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd, in Oshkosh, in the Chapel at 3:30 PM. A time of visitation will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Richard’s name.

Dick’s family would like to thank the ICU staff of Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay.

Dick will be greatly missed by his family, including his beloved cat, Abby.
