Obituary for David J. "Butch" Jansen

David J. Jansen
“Butch”
Age 69 died Saturday, August 28, 2004, after a courageous battle with lung cancer due to Asbestosis. He was surrounded by his family at home. David was born February 6, 1935, to the late Joseph and Hattie (De Bruin) Jansen. He married Claire Busch October 5, 1957, and was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. He was a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion, Post #258 and the VFW. As a four year Air Force Veteran, David served his country in the Korean War. Before retiring in 1992, he was employed with Azco Inc. David enjoyed spending time at his cottage with his family, woodworking and traveling. His family was blessed with his wonderful sense of humor and his kind heart.
David is survived by his wife Claire; four children: Bruce J. Jansen and special friend Barbara Verkuilen, Little Chute; Dave C. (Kathy) Jansen, Little Chute; Stacie (Tom) Lietz, Kaukauna; Dawna (Dean) Van Handel, Little Chute; nine grandchildren: Travis, Jennifer, Melissa, Stephanie and Allison Jansen; Sam, Max, Brady and Rayna Van Handel; three step grandchildren: Tanner, Logan and Conor Lietz; a sister, Beulah (Marty) Vanden Hogen; a brother, Gene “Whitie” (Alice) Jansen; sisters-in-law: Marcella, Betty and Mavis Jansen; Shirley Seeger; Janet (Ray) Behling; Lois “Butchie” (Orion “Poogie”) Reynebeau; his mother-in-law, Harriet Busch; and a special family friend Dale Van Handel. David is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
David was preceded in death by four brothers: Stan, Melvin, Roland and Lloyd “Dusty” Jansen; two brothers-in-law, Arnie Thyssen and Dick Seeger and his father-in-law, Jack Busch.
The family would like to thank Dr. Avery, Dr. Schoenbill and Affinity Hospice, especially Rachel, for the special care they gave.
Friends may call Tuesday August 30, 2004 after 2 p.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 5:00 p.m. at St. John Nepomucene. The Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen is officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Jennifer O’Connell with Fox Cities Funeral Service is assisting the family.
