Obituary for Douglas Hamilton

Douglas Hamilton, age 96, of Oshkosh, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017. He was born in Chicago, IL on December 31, 1920 the son of the late James and Christina (Ewen) Hamilton. Doug was proud to serve in the U.S. Army toward the end of WWII as a medic. Following his service, the company he worked for in Chicago sent him to Hortonville, WI, to start a nail factory. He also worked for many years for Mercury Marine and Kingsbury. Doug was a car enthusiast and avid NASCAR fan who traveled to many racetracks. Many people know Doug for his Corvettes, but he also loved to race go-carts and boats. He was very handy and enjoyed using many of his tools to create wood work projects. Doug loved to dance, and will be remembered for his “charming personality.” Doug is survived by his wife, Cecilia; grandsons: Jacob Hamilton and Jared (Erica) Hamilton; and daughter-in-law, Ruth (Jerry) Tritt. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred; sons: Rodney and Jay Hamilton; and brother, Marshall Hamilton.A visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 in the chapel at Lakeview Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh. A memorial fund in Doug’s name is being established.
