Obituary for Gerald VanGompel

Van Gompel, Gerald V.


Gerald V. Van Gompel, Menasha, age 74, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007, in the loving arms of God after a brief illness. He was born on September 12, 1932, in Kimberly, son of Vincent and Johanna (Jansen) Van Gompel. He graduated from Kimberly High School in 1951. He served 8 years in the Army as a Paratrooper. He worked for Akrosil, retiring in October 1994.


Gerald loved to cook, work in his yard, was a excellent artist and loved to hunt and fish. He belonged to the American Legion Post 150 and VFW Post 2126.


He will be forever missed by the love of his life, Bonnie Van Gompel and her children whose lives he touched so deeply: Theresa (Randy) deceased; Buck; Mike (Vicky) deceased; Chris; Kelli (Le); Bob (Amy). He is also survived by two daughters: Kathryn Van Gompel, Mesa, Arizona; Tammy Van Gompel and two grandchildren: Bethany and Peter Van Gompel. Other survivors are his two sisters: Therese Bednarowski, Ohio; Ann (Jerome) Mitchell, Appleton; his two brothers: Clement (Agnes) Van Gompel, Menasha; James (Francis) Van Gompel, Angola, Indiana.


A private Military and Memorial graveside service will be held at St John's Cemetery, Little Chute on Tuesday, September 4, 2007
