Obituary for Gerhard Krueger

Gerhard A. Krueger, age 71 of Oshkosh, passed away Monday May 7, 2007, at home with his family at his side. He was born in Germany on March 8, 1936, the son of Leo and Maria Krueger. Gerhard moved to the United States in 1953 and became a U.S. citizen on May 19, 1978. Gerhard married Genevieve Neubauer on December 1, 1956, at St. Vincent Catholic Church, where he remained a member until his death. He worked for Dewe Precast for fourteen years and later was employed at Mercury Marine, which he retired from in 1998, after twenty seven years. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Genevieve Krueger, six daughters, Julie (John) Kaelin, Susan Krueger, Linda (Robert) Hurkman, all of Oshkosh, Mary (Todd) Schapekahm, Poy Sippi, Christine ( Max) Gehrke, of Sanger Texas, and Cynthia Krueger, Racine, two sons, Garry Krueger and David (Sherry) Krueger of Oshkosh, twelve grandchildren, Jamie, Amy and Michael Krueger, Bradley Starr, Lisa Krueger, Abby and Adam Schapekahm, Andrew and Matthew Krueger, Brandon Gehrke, Allison Kaelin and Joey Hurkman, one great-granddaughter, Lily Krueger, with whom he spent many of his final days on the couch playing Barbies, two sisters, Ruth (Horst) Lessner of Celle Germany, and Claire (Peter) Kohn, of Handeloh Germany, one brother, Wolfgang (Ursel) Krueger of Ehlershausen Germany, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives in both Germany and the U.S.A. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Helga Graszk, and his sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Guenther Urbschat. A Funeral Mass for Gerhard will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007, at 11:00 A.M., at St. Vincent Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. William Van de Kreeke officiating. Visitation will be held at church on Thursday, from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Gerhard's name is appreciated. A special thanks to the staff of Affinity Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion, that was given to the family.
