Obituary for Harlan S. Hanson

Harlan S. Hanson, age 83, of the Town of Leon, Pine River, died peacefully, Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Juliette Manor in Berlin, following a short stay. He was born March 6, 1924 in Saxeville, the son of George and Amelia Hanson. Harlan was educated in the Wild Rose School System and was a 1942 High School Graduate. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Army during WW II. Harlan had worked at Neenah Foundry for many years and retired from J.I. Case Co .in Racine, WI.

Harlan enjoyed the outdoors and had a soft spot for all animals, especially dogs. He was an excellent welder and loved tinkering with all his old John Deere tractors and Case garden tractors. One of Harlan’s favorite pastimes was going to breakfast in Poy Sippi and enjoying a Friday Fish Fry.

Harlan is survived and will be missed by his children, Harlan E. (Paula) Hanson of Poy Sippi, Carl (Pat) Hanson of Berlin and Beverly Hanson of Lake Mills; grandchildren, Kelly Zabel, Ryan Hanson, Christopher Hanson, Steven Wellnitz and Jeffrey Wellnitz; step-grandchildren, Danielle, Deanna, Aric and Andrea; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, LaVerna Kissinger and Lenora (Edgar) Timm; and daughter in law, Bernice Hanson. Harlan is further survived by nieces, nephews, his close friends, Dave “Schmidty” and Cheryl Schmidt and his K-9 friends and companions; Ruby, Sally, Honey Bear and Mattie. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Marlin G. Hanson and his dog, Tubby.

In accordance with Harlan’s wishes, a private family service will be held.
