Obituary for Janet Muriel Goodwin

Janet M. Goodwin, 82, died Monday afternoon, January 11, 2016 of natural causes after a brief and unexpected illness. Jan was born in Granger, Washington on April 1st, 1933, the daughter of Clyde and Clara Pearce. She graduated from Ganger High School in 1951 along with her sweetheart Gene Goodwin who she married three short months later. They celebrated 64 years of marriage together last September.Jan was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Just a young farm-girl, she followed Gene all over the country as he served in the Navy and Coast Guard for 25 years. She created a loving home for her husband and two children in Washington, Oregon, Hawaii, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Alaska, and Virginia, always finding a church home and many friends along the way. Jan enjoyed sewing, embroidery, reading, watching the birds in her back yard and sharing in the lives of her family. She was very spiritual and looked forward to finding her place in heaven.Jan is survived by her husband Gene; her son Steve and his wife Tami of Oshkosh, her daughter Sue and her husband Harold Faust of Seward, Alaska; seven grandchildren, Summer Bjarnarnson, her husband Brandon, Brianne Holmstadt, her husband Joshua, Pearce Goodwin and his wife Kayla, and Holly Goodwin, Matthew Faust, his wife Arran, Jeanie Moseman, her husband Nick, and Ken Faust; eight great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Jeron and Flynn Bjarnarson, Olivia and Scarlett Holmstadt, Jonas and Maisie Moseman and Ailsa Faust.Jan's life will be celebrated Friday, January 15th, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on Tullar Road in Neenah, Wisconsin at 2:00 p.m. The family asks that any memorials be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Neenah, Wisconsin, or Zion Lutheran Church in LaGrande, Oregon. The family gives special thanks to the Valley VNA staff for their loving and dedicated care, patience and compassion. Special thanks also to the doctors, staff and hospice caregivers at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh.
