Obituary for Janet Sorenson

Janet E. Sorenson, age 66, of Oshkosh, passed away Monday, February 11, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Ohio on June 14, 1941 the daughter of Virgil and Ruth Young Frase.
Aside from being a homemaker while her children were young, Jan worked for ten years at the Pioneer Inn until their closing. Later she was an apartment rental agent up to the time of her death. She enjoyed reading, was a great cook, and as a child, loved spending her summers at camp Mowana, working with her mother in the kitchen. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with friends and her grandchildren.
Jan is survived by her former husband of twenty three years, Jon Sorenson, and their three daughters; Karyn (Jeff) Wetzel of Portage, WI, and their six children; Corry, Sonja, Christina, Nicholi, Katherine, and Cody, daughter Linda Rietveld of Alpharetta Ga, and her two children Zane and Gabriel, and daughter Barbara Sorenson of Oshkosh, WI, and her three children Patrick, Justin and Joshua. She is also survived by her two brothers; Dale (Audrey) Frase of Litchfield, Ohio, Johnny (Mary) Frase, of Galveston, Texas, two sisters; Lois (Neil) Rowland and Debbie Watkins, both of Ohio, and nieces, nephews other relatives, friends and her beloved, mischievous cat, Cheerio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Edna Frase and one infant grandson Cory Allen.
A Time of Remembrance for Jan will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Fox Cities Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m.
In Lieu of flowers, Jan had requested a memorial to be established in her name. All donations will go to the American Cancer Society and Oshkosh Animal Shelter.
A special thanks to Dr. Karen Gremminger and her staff at Mercy Medical Cancer Center for their wonderful care that was given to Jan and her family.
