Obituary for John Reimer
John Robert Reimer Jr., age 88, of Pearl Lake Rd., Redgranite, died September 2, 2013, at Berlin Memorial Hospital. John was born in Oshkosh on November 26, 1924 to John Reimer Sr., and Ella (Kelpert) Reimer. As a boy he worked in his Dad’s furrier business. John graduated early from high school, enlisted in the military, and served in the Army Air Corps during WW II as a navigator. John was honorably discharged on January 8, 1946, and married his high school sweetheart LaVerne Cecilia Radig on January 12, 1946. John was a gifted builder and construction estimator who lived with his family in Oshkosh, Berlin, and Pearl Lake. After retirement John and LaVerne enjoyed their time at Pearl Lake and wintered in Florida.
John was loved and will be deeply missed by his wife of 67 years, LaVerne, his children; daughter, Cathleen (Anthony) Roden, of Fond du Lac, sons; John (Jill) Reimer III, of Neenah, and Michael (fiancée Cristina) Reimer, of Evanston, IL. His sister, Betty Klehfoth of IL., grandchildren; Jennifer (Aaron) Habeck, of Fond du Lac, John (Adeline) Reimer IV, of Madison, Jason Reimer, of Fond du Lac, Matthew Reimer, of IL and Zachary Reimer of IL., great grandchildren; Noah and Joshua Habeck of Fond du Lac.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Gauger, and infant son William.
Visitation Wednesday September 11, 2013, at St. Raphael Church, 830 S. Westhaven Dr. Oshkosh, from 10:00 a.m. until the Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Father Michael Warden officiating. A luncheon will be served after Mass and inurnment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery at 2:00 pm with full military honors.
