Obituary for Robert Lansman

Dr. Robert A. Lansman, age 60 of Winneconne, died January 31, 2006, at home of a brain tumor, with his wife Rosemary and their cats by his side. He was born on November 10,1945 in Evanston Illinois, the son of the late Harry and Marion (Ingrish) Lansman. Bob graduated from Highland Park High School in 1963, was A.B. cum laude from Harvard College in 1967, and received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1972. He married Dr. Rosemary O. Shade on August 15,1982. Bob was a professor at the University of Georgia from 1975 to 1982 and held research positions in France and Canada, coming to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1991. He taught Genetics, Honors Introductory Biology, Virology, and Advanced Topics. Bob retired in 2001 due to his disability. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Rosemary, two sisters and brother-in-law, Marcy Lansman and Art Benavie of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Peggy (Ed) Baxter of Cedaredge, Colorado. A Memorial Service celebrating Bob’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at 4:00PM, at First Presbyterian Church of Winneconne (32 South 3rd Ave.) with Pastor Mara Liz Rivera officiating. A Memorial in Bob’s name has been established. Donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church and to Mercy Health Foundation to support the fitness program for the physically challenged. A special thanks to the Affinity Hospice Nurses: Ellen and Astra, aides: Gina, Barb and Sister Regine, volunteers: Sandy, Cindy, Michael and Bob M., Pastor Mara, and their good friend John.
