Obituary for Rosemary Mead

Rosemary Mead, age 77, of Neenah, died July 28, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 21, 1930 in Wausau, WI, the daughter of Clarence and Helen (Miller) Goetzman. Rosemary was educated in the Wausau school system and was a graduate of Wausau High School. After high school she attended Minneapolis School of Art & Design and became a fashion design artist. In 1954, she married Maurice J. Mead and this union was blessed with three sons. For many years, Rosemary had worked as a librarian at St. Gabriel the Archangel Elementary School and also had volunteered at the school as well. She loved her family and grandchildren and always enjoyed family events. Vacations in the Northwoods will be fondly remembered. She was an avid circus fan and received a great amount of joy in attending various circuses with her grandchildren. She also had a talent for sewing and was the Wardrobe Mistress for the Great Youth Circus at Wilson Middle School in Appleton.

Rosemary was a long-standing and faithful member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish and was also a member of the Circus Fans Assoc. of America, Circus Historical Society, Wisconsin Historical Society, Neenah Historical Society, Sheboygan Co. Historical Society, Seils-Sterling Tent # 79 of Sheboygan and GMR Tent # 100 of Baraboo.

Survivors include her husband, Maurice; her sons and their families, James (Rae) and their daughter Jennifer of Oshkosh & son Matthew of Waupaca, Thomas (Mary) and their children, Katherine, Sam & Molly of Gillett, WI and Mark (Lori) and their children Charlie & Emily of Appleton. Other family members include her sisters, Ruth (David) Arent of Greenville & Barbara (Richard) Hellhake of Sheboygan; sister in law, Donna Goetzman, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Goetzman

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 900 Geiger St., Neenah, from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Richard L. Allen officiating. Rosemary will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
