Obituary for Rosemary Newell

Rosemary T. Newell, age 78, of Oshkosh, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, June 10, 2005 at Evergreen Retirement Community. She was born in Oshkosh on May 20, 1927, the daughter of Rudolph and Mary (Goheen) Montag. Rosemary married Edgar R. Newell on February 20, 1045. In her early married life, she was a truck driver along with Edgar. She worked as a nursing assistant at Mercy Hospital. Most of her years were spent as a mother and homemaker. She loved her family and took pride in having many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was “Gramma Rosie,” “Granny Two Shoes,” “Gramma,” “Gamma,” and “Ram Ram.” She was known for her sense of humor and friendly personality. She was gifted with a beautiful singing voice. She loved cats and dogs, especially “Boots” and “Shayna.”

Survivors include her beloved husband of 60 years, Edgar, Oshkosh; six sons and three daughters, Edgar J. (Nancy) Newell, Oshkosh; Lynn (Pat) Newell, Jacksonville, Florida; Christine (David) Misterek, Oshkosh; Linda (the late Bernie) Behlman, Oshkosh; Michael (Connie) Newell, Oshkosh; Robert (Pam) Newell, Oshkosh; Kathleen (Joul) Molinski, Oshkosh; Gene (Mary) Newell, Milwaukee; James (Angie) Newell, Oshkosh; 24 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; sisters, Dolores (Donald) Zielke, Oshkosh, Charlotte Montag, Green Bay, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Geneva Eyers; brothers, Donald, Robert, and Bernard Montag.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 434 W. South Park Ave. from 4:00-7:00 P.M. and then again on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. William Van De Kreeke officiating. Entombment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank Dr. Blaha and staff for the years of care and attention, the staff of the Aurora and Affinity Hospice, and the staff of Evergreen Manor for their excellent care and to Rev. William Van De Kreeke for the prayers, visits and support. A special thanks to her sister, Dolores (“Dodo”) for being Rosemary’s friend and confidant.
