Obituary for Shirley Evans-Gussert

Shirley Evans-Gussert, age 61, of Oshkosh, died May 10, 2005. She was born in Milwaukee, WI. May 22, 1943 the daughter of Ronald and Jeanette (Neaubauer) Lapene. She grew up in Berlin, WI and was educated in the Berlin School System. Upon graduation from High School, Shirley had worked a variety of jobs before moving to Oshkosh. She married Vernon Evans and they later divorced. She then married Carl W. Gussert and he preceded her in death. In Oshkosh, she managed Valley Bank in Park Plaza; and later became an insurance agent for Mert Dobberke Agency; American Family Insurance and at the time of death Allstate Insurance in Oshkosh. Shirley is survived by her children, Robert Evans of University City, MO. and Amy (Robert) Kidd of Plainfield, Ill., mother, Jeanette Stemler of Berlin, three grandchildren, Caitlin, Zachary and Braden Kidd all of Plainfield, Ill, two brothers, Gerald (Cheryl) Lapene of Berlin and Michael (Shirley) Stemler of Michigan. Other survivors include her former daughter in law, Sandy (Mary Renning) Evans of Appleton; and special friends, Debbie Cavanaugh, Phyllis Alecos, and Rick and Jane Christl.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1526 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Berg officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Special thanks to Dr. Karen Gremminger and the Staff of Oshkosh Medical and Rehabilitation Center for their extreme kindness and support given to Shirley and her family. A memorial has been established.
